Danishness - The new use of the former rail area in outer Nørrebro

Danish sociologist Ole Bjerg's and architect Frederik Agdrup's

and Nicholas Bjørndal's concept idea:

This concept description is an idea of how a part of the former rail area on outer Nørrebro can be used. It is our impression there are existing plans for the area to be turned into parks and sport areas, and like that will be need of a ...club house (which covers a house with bathing facilities, lounge area, cantina etc., for the users to meet and rest after doing sport). However - in our opinion - the area around Mjølner Parken (A housing area in outer Nørrebro which is almost only inhabited by immigrants) contain a much larger potential, and like that we have made the following draft to a more ambitious and new in thought, a building project "The colony on Nørrebro".

The project contains 3 ambitions:

 

ARCHITECTURE
-to offer an architectural solution on some of the social problems, which exists in the area nearby the rail area.

LOCAL ENVIRONMENT

-to create a physical, social and financial space in the city, which represents some of the values, which constitute the special identity of Nørrebro. These values are solidarity, progressiveness, diversity, coolness, inventiveness and life. This space in the city serves as a gathering- and identification spot for the inhabitants of Nørrebro. 

INTEGRATION

-to serve as an architectural, social and financial experiment, which can inspire other city districts in Denmark facing the same challenges as we are in the outer Nørrebro.
